Men ARE Dumber than Woman

I preface what I’m about to write with the following.  In absolutely no way are my words to be taken as one cancer is worse than another.  No way could one version or the other be better or worse than the other.  A blog that would even attempt such a comparison would end up with no readers or worse.

However, when it comes to men and women, that comparison can be made and though we men can read maps one of the differences between men and women is men are the dumber.

Watching the news the other night a neighboring city has adopted “pink” trash bins so they now have blue for garbage, green for recycle yard junk, yellow bins for recycle glass, another yellow bin for metal and now a Susan G. Komen pink as an option.  By all means bring the awareness  on.  There does need to be increased awareness of all cancers and many other maladies.  My point though is we all know what pink signifies.  How does that make women smart and men dumb though?   Well, can you tell me what a light blue wristband represents?  Women will talk about things men cringe and shirk from.

Prostate cancer, as cancer goes, is the number two cause of cancer death in men.  I didn’t know that until I was told I had a particularly nasty version of the crap.  There are symptoms of prostate cancer [though I suffered none ] up until the last thirty months ago I couldn’t tell you what they were

Ask yourself why you know what pink means, run for the pink, dance for the pink, cook for the pink etc. and why you don’t know what light blue ribbons mean.  The answer to that question is actually very simple.  Men are dumb and speaking about any affliction is taboo.

You will never hear this at the boys Friday night poker party.

“Uh Bob I’m having some troubles in the bedroom.  Do you have any ideas?” or “George it takes me forever to pee that ever happen to you?”

Women reading this are laughing.  Women will talk about any and all.  Women actually have to have an examination that involves either the word stirrups or the physical smooshing and mashing of their breasts.  AND at their poker game they talk about such things.  Men have to suffer 15 seconds of, well, I’m not sure what you would call it.  Discomfort?  Then at the Friday night poker game they make nervous jokes about the exam.

If a man does have the level of relationship that allows difficult conversation  with another man, which I thankfully do, that seems to make outside observers immediately become confused to the men’s sexuality.  If a woman has that level of respect and caring from another of her same gender then we men think “wow they are best friends.”

Because of the color pink women and all the education the color represents, their husbands and public are educated in preventive options, symptoms and alternatives should the worst happen.  The ignorance of blue and lack of communication between men leads to a higher death rate.

To be sure, prostate cancer can blind side you like it did me but it is a small percentage of the whole that that happens to.  Speak up guys.  Talk to your buddy, he might know something that you don’t.    Oh yeah, you can talk to your doctor too.  Don’t worry having the conversations won’t affect your map reading skills.

What Are The Odds

Some of you already know that I am the design director for a company that manufacturers things like trade show exhibits.

Not every design that is built crosses my desk.  Some clients actually know what they want and will book the order directly with the customer service department.

Every configuration gets "set up" before shipment and my travels between the building entrance and my office take me through this "set up" area.

Last week, Monday to be exact, I finished my Provenge treatment.  Tuesday, on my return to work I saw this table top property being set up in the set up area:

Feeling a bit set up myself I thought "30 months ago I wouldn't even know what that stuff is."

Seriously, the day after my last treatment and this shows up at work.

What are the odds?

Talk to ya later
